Distance Learning Program for Grades K-6

Welcome to WCSD Online Learning for the Future (WOLF) Elementary School!

WOLF is an excellent choice for parents who are looking for an alternative to traditional school. Students can work on school assignments any day of the week, any time of the day, and anywhere they have access to a computer with an internet connection!

Located in Reno, Nevada, we are a Washoe County School District online elementary school. WOLF Elementary serves students in grades K-6 in an online learning environment. Students may enroll from late August to mid-April. Our program is designed for students and parents who need a flexible schedule and may not be able to attend the 9am-3pm traditional elementary school day.

We provide distance education with grade appropriate curriculum in core subjects. Each course has been approved by Washoe County School District and the Nevada Department of Education. Students are assigned lessons according to their needs. Whether students are at, below or above grade level in any particular subject, lessons will be chosen for each student based on the individual student's needs and goals. Our program is especially beneficial for students who need to review specific skills or work ahead of their grade level for middle school preparation.

Students are assigned lessons in eight subjects; Language Arts, Mathematics, Reading, Science, Social Science, Vocabulary, Writing and Art. Art projects are done at home and delivered to the WOLF School by a parent. Most online lessons consist of a study section, practice test and mastery test.

Most WOLF students work from home, with parental support. Parents and students must come to the WOLF School in person for enrollment and initial orientation. A computer lab is available for WOLF students' use at the WOLF School campus for orientations, final exams, and as a working place for those students who have temporarily lost their internet connection.

Several times during the school year, WOLF Elementary parents get together for a parent meeting/forum to discuss and exchange ideas about our program. Typically, a field trip follows directly after the meeting. Parents must make weekly contact with our licensed teacher throughout the school year. A high degree of parental involvement is expected, as it is imperative to each student's success in our program.
